Mount Olivet United Methodist Church |
|
Our purpose is to let everyone know that God loves them, NO MATTER WHAT ! |
|
Hi. My name is Norm Evans, and I’m proud to be the pastor at Mt. Olivet Church in Mechanicsburg. I’ve been a pastor for 37 years, and have served churches in Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania.
My family includes my wife Ellen, five grown children between us, and two boxers named Butchie and Arthur, who make sure Ellen and I get our exercise everyday! Ellen is also a pastor serving in Hummelstown, where we both live. |
|
My passions include writing, computers (Apple, mostly), reading, exercise, and woodturning, when I have the time. Oh, --- and following the Boston Red Sox just like Stephen King!
I received my bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College in 1968, and a master of theology degree from Boston University School of Theology in 1971.
In my ministry, I love to preach and to teach more than anything. I care about helping others to understand and “find themselves” in the scriptures. I also care about the church, and helping it to become a place of grace, affirmation, and compassion for EVERYBODY, NO MATTER WHAT, as our purpose suggests.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. If you visit with us sometime, I hope you’ll make a point to introduce yourself to me. |
